Washington

After a 40-hour train ride from Chicago, I finally arrived in Seattle. This stop has been an emotional one for me because it’s the last city of the trip, but also the first familiar stop I’ve made in a long time. I can mostly navigate around town without using a map, something I haven’t been able to do for a while. After checking in at my hostel, I went straight to business.

I headed to the Fremont neighborhood to pitch my bags to Free Range Cycles, a woman-owned bike shop. With winter approaching in the PNW, cycling tends to slow down substantially, so they passed for now. Hopefully, that will change in the spring when ridership picks up again. :)

The second shop I visited was Good Weather in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. It came highly recommended by many people when I asked about Seattle shops. They seemed very excited about selling Pink Tag Bags, but the owner is currently away in Japan, so I’ll be following up again soon!

I know a few people in Seattle, and one was available yesterday evening to meet up for a drink. I had stopped drinking for nearly a year before this trip, but I enjoy beer tourism, so I’ve had a few beers along the way. I plan to return to not drinking now that I’m back home, but I wanted one last beer at my favorite brewery, Holy Mountain.

I was in a bit of a grumpy mood when I arrived, but after socializing, I started to feel much better. My friend brought their partner, who turned out to be a buyer for a small local chain in Seattle. After some discussion, I think we may have found a home for PTB in Seattle!
